With physical education curriculum reform carried out, physical education teachersin middle school are provided with a great creative space. However, the new curriculumreform ultimately depend on the development of the professional quality of physicaleducation teachers, which proposed new requirements for physical education teachers, sothat the majority of sports teacher professional development is faced with severechallenges. In economic terms, Kunshan is awarded the first of China’s "one hundredcounties," and in this specific area middle school PE teachers professional developmentrequirement is a must. Therefore, with all the factors above, it is of great significance tostudy the present professional development of middle school PE teachers,which alsopromotes the healthy development. Thus, the implementation of " Yangtze River Delta "regional education will be realized one day.In this paper, the author has an research on middle school PE teachers ’ professionaldevelopment by referring to literature, expert interviews, questionnaires, statistics andother methods, analyse what has been found, draw conclusions and giving suggestions.The results showed that middle school PE teachers in Kunshan already have somebasic professional development in recent years, and that there is strong demand forprofessional development of most physical education teachers. However, with theimplementation of the new curriculum reform and teaching reform, some middle school PEteachers fail to keep pace with it and even unwilling to take part in verious kinds ofactivities. Based on the findings from Kunshan City middle school PE teachers specializedfaculty structure, professional development of cognition, objectives, content, approaches,organization department, organization, constraints and other aspects, the author suggeststhat the teachers’ awareness of professional development should be raised; expandparticipation and the strengthening of the network platform; grasp research;establishmentand improvement of key teachers echelon;PE teacher continuing education courses to optimize the structure; implementation of school-based training; strengthen teachingreflection behavior; establish a scientific and rational evaluation system. The authorstrives to adapt it better to the needs of the new curriculum reform and the qualityeducation in Kunshan.
