The application of multimedia technology in English teaching of primary school is in keeping with the psychological development and the learning rules of students. In addition, it plays a crucial role in improving the efficiency of the primary school English teachers’ classroom teaching. It is a test of teaching ability and skill for them whether they can make good use of multimedia technology or not.Therefore, this thesis mainly aims at the investigation and analysis with application status of multimedia technology in English teaching of primary school. In this way, we can enable the multimedia technology to better service for primary school teachers and students, as well as primary school English teaching.Just due to the author’s two months’internship experience in Nanjing Chibi Road Primary School, a case study is made in one English lesson. Besides, with the ways of qualitative and quantitative research, the author wants to observe three questions by some methods such as questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation:(1)What is the current situation of multimedia equipment in Nanjing Chibi Road Primary School?(2) How is the effect of the application of multimedia technology in the primary school English classroom?(3) What is the feedback of the teachers and students in the classroom for multimedia technology?With the careful observation and analysis, the author finds a lot of information.(1) There is multimedia equipment in every classroom in Nanjing Chibi Road Primary School. And almost all English teachers use multimedia technology in classroom teaching. Every office has computers for teachers. Especially, there exists a team which is used for discussing and promoting multimedia teaching for teachers.(2) Although multimedia technology has many advantages, some disadvantages can not be ignored, such as weakening the communication between teachers and students or resulting in students’not concentrating on listening in class.(3) Most teachers support multimedia technology in classroom teaching and admit that there exist some shortages. Besides, students look forward to having more interesting English lessons with multimedia technology.Thus, some revelations can be concluded to help primary school English teachers understand and use multimedia teaching correctly and improve teaching efficiency.
