Along with the implementation of the English Curriculum Standard,the importance of English curriculum resources has revealed day by day.People have began to realize that without the support of adequate Englishcurriculum resources it would be difficult to carry out the new ideas ofEnglish teaching and to be in line with the new standard suggested byEnglish Curriculum Standard. The emergence of curriculum resourcesdevelopment and utilization brings about a new way of implementingcurriculum as well as a new teaching orientation, which proves to be agreat challenge to the traditional teaching pattern that limits curriculumresources to classroom, books, workbooks and other teaching assistantmaterials. Therefore, developing and utilizing curriculum resources lay agood foundation for carrying out new curriculum smoothly. Its value isreflected on following aspects: First, promoting school curriculumconstruction; second, contributing to the teachers’ professionaldevelopment; third, benefiting students’ all-round development; fourth,facilitating the transformation of ways of learning. Therefore, how todevelop and utilize curriculum resources has become a comparativelynew subject of study, as well as a spotlight and a difficult point in English teaching reform. However, the study regarding English curriculumresources has been still in the primary stage and few mature achievementshave been made. Therefore, more studies considering the developmentand utilization of English curriculum resources for English teaching insenior high school especially need to be conducted in depth.Based on Krashen input hypothesis and information processingtheory, this study is mainly a questionnaire-based survey.240studentsand their teachers from four model senior schools were selected assubjects. This thesis aims to discuss the following questions: First,teachers’ awareness of the development and utilization of Englishcurriculum resources; Second, teachers’ actual usage of Englishcurriculum resources in their English teaching; Third, students’ attitudetowards the development and utilization of English curriculum resourcesof teachers and their usage of English curriculum resources. The findingsreveals the following problems existing in model high schools: First, notfamiliar with the connotation and scope of English curriculum resources;second, be satisfied with existing resources, lack of awareness toactively develop other resources besides teaching materials; third,teachers have no time and energy to develop English curriculumresources fourth, School leaders do not pay enough attention to Englishcurriculum resources development and utilization fifth, students makebad use of English curriculum resources after class. At the end of this paper, the suggestions on how to properly develop and utilize curriculumresources are put forward: First, enhance teachers’ awareness towardsEnglish curriculum resources second, develop and utilize othercurriculum resources third, relieve teachers’ working and psychologypressure; fourth, seek more support from school leaders; fifth, providelearners with more guidance. In the end, the deficiencies of this paper arepointed out. Meantime, the recommendations for future research arepresented accordingly.
