Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the teenagers’ functionalmovement by Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and analyze their weaklink of body. A modification training plan was designed on the assessmentresult. The purpose of this study is the influence of FMS on dexterity, stability and symmetry and explored the improving physical fitness methodof teenagers.Subject and method: There were98pupils and100middle school studentschoosing from Yangpu district in Shanghai. The198adolescents were testedby FMS.We selected the adolescents who score less than15as subjects.According to the problems existing in subjects,we made corrective training, thencompared the score and the improvement of function movement before training andafter. Corrective training includes three movements: Chop and lift、 Turkishget-up and Two-arm single-leg deadlift. All teenagers were trained for40minitesevery time,3times per week. The pupils were trained for8weeks and themiddle schoool students were trained for6weeks.Results:(1)The full marks of FMS is21. The scores of primary schoolstudents (average score is14.29) and middle school students (average scoreis14.88) are both at low level.(2)In the primary school students, girls’ average scores of the Straight LegRising test were significantly higher than boys’(P<0.05). In the middleschool students, girls’ average scores of the shoulder joint flexibility andthe Straight Leg Rising test were significantly higher than boys’(P<0.05).(3)After6-8weeks modification training, the aggregate scores of FMS onteenagers were significantly higher than before.(4)After6-8weeks modification training, the aggregate scores of deep squat, hurdles, advance junge, the shoulder joint flexibility on primary schoolstudents were significantly higher than before(P<0.05); the aggregatescore of advance junge and the Straight Leg Rising test on middle schoolstudents were significantly higher than before(P<0.05).Conlusion:(1) The ability of teenagers’ functional movement is in a lowlevel, especially in Hurdle Step,In-line Lunge and Rotational Stability. However, grils’ functional movement level is significantly higher than boys’,particularly in the Active Straight Leg Raise test.(2)FMS test is a efficient tool for identifying the functional movementweaknesses and guide the corrective training reliably. The teenagers’functional movement level is improved significantly by6-8weeksconrrective training.
