With the globalization of economy, the exchange and cooperation over the worldbecome more and more frequent in many fields. And the competition among countries ismore fierce. China has entered into the WTO for more than ten years, whose process ofinternationalization and modernization has a high speed acceleration. We need a large numberof people who are proficient in two languages and cultures and has the ability to participate ininternational competition and cooperation. Bilingual teaching attracts attention of manyresearchers in the field of educational reform. At present, geography bilingual teaching isappeared in parts of regions in our country. Although other countries have carried out thepractice and research for many years, it is still a new-born thing in our country, which facedmany difficulties and challenges. It needs our research and exploration on how to carry outgeography bilingual teaching effectively, and to learn from developed countries.Based on a great deal of heritage data documents and geography bilingual teachingpractice in middle school, this article analyzes the theory and practice applying to thegeography bilingual teaching. According to linguistics, pedagogy, psychology, and bilingualteaching theory, the research mainly discuss the implementation of geography bilingualteaching in middle school.This article is divided into six parts:The first part is introduction, including research background, research status abroad andat home, the research significance of this paper, ideas and methods.The second part is the definition of related concepts of geography bilingual teaching andthe theoretical basis of research.The third part is the implementation of the geography bilingual teaching in middleschool,including the teaching goal, the principle, the mode and the evaluation of bilingualteaching.The fourth part offers a teaching design of geography bilingual lesson in middle school,and gives comments and analysis on it from four aspects.The fifth part find some problems in the course of geography bilingual teaching and putsforward some suggestions to solve them.The last part is a conclusion, and the future protest of bilingual teaching.The author hope this article can make contribution to geography bilingual teaching research and practice in our country.
