Under the new curriculum, independent learning and cooperative learning have become hot issues indomestic primary and secondary education research. Independent learning requires time, and the awarenessand the ability to cooperate are the basic qualities that a modern should have. Through theoretical researchon autonomous learning and cooperative learning, the author of the theory found that there is a definite linkbetween the self-learning and cooperative learning. Self-learning highlights the dominant position ofstudents, emphasizing the individual student initiative, while cooperative learning is concerned with theinteraction among individuals to achieve a common purpose to improve. So I imagined that in the course ofbiology teaching, let students take independent study and then cooperatively learn in small groups toachieve studying goals. This way not only helps to develop the students’ ability to think independently andthe spirit of cooperation, but also helps teachers to deal with large differences in student teaching, and thusrealize the goal that every student has the opportunity to develop.Based on elaborating the relevant theory of independent learning and cooperative learning and theactual situation of our school, Xin’an No.2Senior High School in Luoyang, with a limit of teachingresources and poor students, the paper concentrates on how to apply the autonomous-cooperative studystrategy to teaching. I conducted the experiment to all of the six classes for a semester from September2013to January2014. Throughout the study I use literature, lessons learned, investigation and case analysisand other methods, based on qualitative research and supplemented by quantitative research.Experimental data obtained were analyzed using Excel and Spass software. The results showed that:1. Autonomous-cooperative study can enhance the study scores in a large area. Experimental class ofbiological performance has improved significantly, while the control classes hasn’t;2. By implementing self-cooperative learning, students’ interest in biology learning has significantlyimproved;3. Autonomous-cooperative study is good to students’ cooperation skill and other skills.4. Autonomous-cooperative study is good to students’ thinking quality and other qualities.
