The Application Of Group Work For Children Volunteers Fostering

Participating in volunteer activities is an important platform for the kids to contact and return the society. Children can help others and have a wonderful time through volunteer service, but also broaden their horizons and increase their knowledge. Advocating for children as a volunteer to participate in various activities to serve the community,it helps children develop social adaptation,awareness of social participation and the spirit of volunteerism, thus promoting the development of civil society.In China, Children, under the age of14, are an underutilized volunteer resource.They have long been identified as recipients of service,rather than givers. In recent years, with the development of voluntary service, voluntary services for children are constantly evolving. For the potential development of children, how to foster them to be volunteers become an important career.This thesis takes children volunteers as a main body of the research. It studies how to use the method of group work more effectively to nurture children volunteers and achieve the goal of fostering volunteer children. Based on the professional knowledge theory foundation of social work and started from the volunteer growth group of Summer Camp in Nanjing Community Development Center for Facilitators, it tries to explore a group intervention model in social work,which is suitable for children volunteer fostering.With the aid the development of the Social Work,the group intervention model is to combined with voluntary service activities and the healthy growth of children. It will promote children volunteer fostering,the social development of children, and promote transmission of volunteerism culture.By the analysis of the volunteer growth group of2013Summer Camp in Nanjing Community Development Center for Facilitators, it found that the use of group work is beneficial for children volunteer nurturing. In the group, members learn volunteers and voluntary service knowledge together, and discuss to find the associated measures to solve problems of voluntary service during the Summer Camp. It not only plays the team motivation and plays a supporting role in peer groups, but also inspires more members to join into the volunteer service for the Camp. They can apply voluntary service knowledge learned from the growth group into practice to become service supporter. And also they have cultured the spirit of volunteerism, and increased the awareness with ability of volunteerism.Thus,it has achieved a certain degree of self-reliance and the concept of unity and cooperation.However, the volunteer growth team also encountered some problems,such as the instability of team members,the weak suitability of the content of the team,and the lack of team assessment.lt needs to reflect constantly,by clearing team goal, standardizing crew recruitment, optimizing the design of the team, detailing evaluation system,to build practical model of volunteer growth group which will popularize children volunteers foster.
