The Research On How To Advance Pupils’ Resilience To Adversity By Group Social Work

A survey result, published in2012by Chinese Children’s Mental Health Center under Chinese Association for Mental Hygiene, shows that the number of current children with mental health problems has reached30million, which has accounted for about10%of the total, especially in the7-10years old group just entering elementary school up to the most. The survey result has caused widespread attention of the whole society. In this thesis, a practical project:enhancing pupils’resilience to adversity in Harbin Liberation Primary School was taken as a case study mainly from an angle of advantage theory. Through the observation carried out by the professional team, objective performances of team members will be seen in various activities, so the positive potential hidden beneath the negative label will be uncovered, thus currently existed difficulties will be solved effectively and their resilience to adversity will be improved systematically by improving team members’ ability of taking good advantage of themselves and the surrounding environment resources by the way of energization and weaving multi-directional social support network.The thesis can provide team members with good social assistance and build a sound social support network through expanded work in practice and application of various social work methods. Meanwhile, in order to fully meet the individual needs of the pupils group, professional social work methods taken in the intervention process can also improve the solution efficiency, and can be taken as the reference model of solving problems of other vulnerable members in society, which is the intensive manifestation of social fairness and justice. In practice, the reason why taking the group work as a starting point is that team members’true self will be displayed insensibly in various activities, which is the centralized reflection of their unhealthy psychological and behavioral problems in daily life, thus considerable and real data information can be obtained through observation.
