The three elements of the language are vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar.English learning is inseparable from a large vocabulary accumulation. The secondlevel of Primary school English Curriculum Standard is600-700new words in15topics. And the students are able to pronounce the words accurate, spell correctly anduse properly. Vocabulary learning is an important part of teaching.In recent years, in order to optimize the activities design of English teaching,so that children can happily learn English and develop their overall languageproficiency, teachers have tried a variety of teaching methods. Teachers use computersin tend to create a real teaching situations. Multimedia can not only stimulate studentinterest in learning, expand their horizons, but also to allow students language skills oflistening, speaking, reading and writing to achieve more efficient development.In this paper, starting from the actual teaching to multimedia-based teaching andlearning activities designed to study vocabulary points, classroom observation andanalysis of the existing problems, and trying to explore strategies to solve problems, to achievethe purpose of optimizing the design vocabulary teaching activities.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. Itdescribes the research background, significance and research methods. The secondchapter is a brief overview of the characteristics of multimedia and multimediainstructional design principles combined analysis of the psychological characteristicsof primary school students vocabulary learning characteristics. The third chapterspecifically points out the multimedia-assisted vocabulary lesson modalities problems.The fourth chapter is the main part of this article. It pointed out the different types ofmultimedia-based vocabulary activities design. The fifth chapter is the researchresults. It includes that activity changes in the classroom, the improvement of the qualityof teaching and teachers’ improvement. Chapter summary and reflection, that theconclusions of this thesis and deficiencies, and pointed out the direction for futureresearch.I believe that this thesis, multimedia-based activities in elementary Englishvocabulary lesson, carried out an objective analysis method. It also presents some ofthe more reasonable ways of activities strategies. I hope to give primary schoolteachers some useful advice and provide some practical material to experts.
