Research On Talent Training Mode Of T’ou-sè-wè Orphanag

T’ou-se-we Orphanage was established in Zi-Ka-Wei Area of Shanghai byJesuits coming to China at the end of Qing Dynasty, a by-product of themissionary activity of Catholicism in China. The orphanage adopted orphans,spread them religious doctrine and taught them cultural knowledge andtechnology, T’ou-se-we Orphanage founded Ci Yun elementary school, too, set upa series of work shops in Printing, carpentry, drawing and hardware. TheOrphanage not only serviced for missionary enterprise but also cultivated abilityof the orphans to make a living. Under the hard work of a large number ofChinese and foreign monks during its history of nearly100years the orphanageobtained renowned achievements in Chinese and foreigns, for example, producedplenty of famous works, cultivated some art masters. Therefore it played animportant role in Shanghai modern cultural history and educational history of thechurch. However，for the rease that rarely crafts and artworks produced inT’ou-se-we are existed and related documents are scarcely，very few modernpeople know this place which famous in old Shanghai. So, it’s very meaningful torestoration the orphanage and to explore the reasons of its success.The current research about T’ou-se-we orphanage mainly from aspects suchas technology, religion, culture, art education, but this paper focuses on a newperspective to explore it’s talent training mode from training object and target，teaching materials and curriculum, teaching methods，teachers and managementsystem. This paper trying to outline the orphanage’s unique talent training modeand to clear the key factors about the orphanage why successfully cultivate alarge number of technical personnel through explore its history and education.The author considers that there is a unique talent training mode in theorphanage: the teaching content is given primary with technical education andauxiliary with cultural education，the target of the talents training is made the orphans master the skills to adapt the social, the main teaching method is thepractice teaching, the Orphanage emphasize the operating ability and innovationability. The talent training mode in T’ou-se-we Orphanage is elite education helpthe disadvantaged groups, is also occupation education deepen the combinationof production and learning, innovation education accelerate the development ofteachers and students. The current Chinese education can be enlightened in threeaspects from this kind of training mode. First of all, according to thecharacteristics of the different vulnerable groups and the requirement of timescarry out the elite education is one of the effective channels of innovationeducation aid for the vulnerable groups. Secondly, establish a multi-level multisystem mode of education as well as set up the education mode integration oflearning and production is an effective way for the innovation of talent trainingmode of the vocational education. Thirdly, reasonable use of talents with a correctunderstanding is very important nowadays for talent is the most preciousresource.
