The Design of Geographic homework is an important part in the teaching ofgeography. On the one side, homework allows students to consolidate good contentknowledge, methods, skills and other aspects of what they have learned in class,onthe other hand, it gives teachers feedback about whether they achieve the objectives ofthe lesson. So il is very necessary to design geographic homework. But nowadaysgeographic homework still focuses more on the training of basic knowledge,neglecting the development of ’students abilities and master of methods. The reformof geograph>’ curirculum puts forward to the new requirements for the teaching ofgeography, which needs to be given more and deeper meaning. In the course ofresearch, the “process and method”s which is emphasized on the new reform isselected for the research base, by drawing research on geographic homework at homeand abroad.This paper is divided into the following aspects:In theory,the definition of the geographic homework and the connotations of"proc’ess and methods*targets are elaborated by domestic and foreign research. Andbased on the ability of the students, the different kinds of geographic homework aredivided into the research homework, the observing homework, the analyzinghomew ork and so on.In practice, the stud> surveys the purpose of doing homework in students andteachers and analyzes of the geographic homework based on "process and methods"target. From the survey,it indicates:1.teachers and students have differences in thepurpose, necessity, tvpe. the occupying time in Ihe implement of geographichomework, as well as the preference and the usag“e of Process and melhodr"2. Theteachers*understanding of the process and melhods target deviates from the rightconnotation of i"t. so students cant master the process and methods comprehensivelyBut it indicates many good aspects, for example students don’t contravene thehomework and teachers are willing to design the homework In teaching materials, itfinds that although it has rich content in the current geographic homework, most of il is to select and fill in the blank questions which make the “process” and “methods”large! not full and complete.Finally,on application level, it finds many different kinds of Multimediatechnology/situation/different processes and methods/scientific guidance should becombined into the homework. And the study uses experiments and interviewing toanalyze the effect of senior high homework b"ased on the process and methods’’target——the example of the part of “th"e human. It contains the following items: First,it promotes the understanding of the knowledge. Second, it trains students variousskills and experienced scientific methods. Also it has limitation of the time, objectivecondition and evaluation.
