In recent years, along with social development and curriculum reform to further advance,all kinds of teaching ideas and teaching methods emerge in endlessly with each passing day.Practice teaching is very important in the teaching activities, but under the influence of variousconditions, the development has been slow. After entering the new century, facing thechallenges, and at the same time as the beginning of a new round of basic education reform, theimportance of practice teaching is highlighted again. In the ministry of education promulgatedthe "basic education curriculum reform outline (try out)" clearly put forward to cultivate thestudents’ survival ability, practical ability and creative ability, in the teaching process to guidestudents to question, investigate, explore, learn in practice and requirements. As an open,regional geography, practical subject, so in the process of geography teaching in high school,pay attention to the implementation of the practice teaching, conform to the characteristics ofthe subject. Geography practice teaching on the basis of the subject content, in practice for theway, take the student as the main body in the process of practice, teachers as the leading factor,to let the students combined with the existing geographical knowledge, start work to solvepractical problems, acquire new knowledge and skills. In the process of geography practiceteaching, cultivating their problem solving ability, cooperation, learning ability, integratetheory with practice ability in the process, master the geography practical skills, cultivate theirgeographic literacy, realize their all-round development.This paper mainly discusses the selected high school geography teaching practice researchof the topic background, has been clear about the high school geography teaching in theimportance of practice teaching, discussing domestic foreign research present situation and thestatus quo of the practice teaching. On the basis of literature study, we define the concept ofgeography teaching practice and the classification of the geographical practice teaching isdivided into geographic experimental class, geography observation class and geological survey.This paper expounds the basic theory related to practice teaching, and guiding the research ofmiddle school geography teaching. Through the way of questionnaire and teacher interview, theimplementation of the status quo in high school geography teaching practice are analyzed, andmet the implementing situation and existing problems. Found that though the implementation ofthe practical teaching conditions improved in the current high school geography, but still notoptimistic. There is a practice equipment not complete, practical activities to carry out the systemfor practice teaching method, teachers lack of system research and application, etc. On this basis, according to different types of geography teaching practice, puts forward the specific teachingmethods and processes. Established on the basis of this article different types of geographicpractice teaching method, selecting typical cases, the specific application and application in theattention question has carried on the empirical research. Through study practice of high schoolgeography teaching method and empirical study, in order to teachers to recognize the importanceof practice teaching in the teaching and to carry out the practice teaching. At the same time thispaper also attempts to establish the appropriate practice teaching methods for high schoolgeography teaching, to provide specific methodology and guidance for teachers.In the senior high school geography teaching process to be able to implement the practiceteaching is not an overnight work, needs the general scholars and front-line teachers, and thejoint efforts of the social people from all walks of life, will be incorporated into the dailyteaching link of practice teaching, to cultivate the students’ geography practice ability, developcomprehensive talents in the new century, and ultimately to promote the senior high schoolgeography education career development goals.
