Academic self-concept is an important products of students’ psychology in thebackground of school education, positive academic self-concept is an important symbolof students’ mental health. School well-being is not only the important measure ofstudents’ school life quality,but also have an impact on the mental health of students.Since academic self-concept and school well-being were both produced in the specificfield—schools, they must have a certain connection. Elementary school higher gradesstudents are at a special period of physical and mental development, so is the academicdevelopment. During the transition period of mental and academic development, thereare always so much contradiction and confuse, if all the contradiction and confuse havean impact on the academic self-concept and school well-being of elementary schoolhigher grades students. Therefore, taking the students of shapingba district ofChongqing city as example, the author adopts questionnaire investigation and interviewmethod based on the literature collection, to research the characteristics of theiracademic self-concept and school well-being, than conduct the further explor e of theirrelationship. Conclusions are as follows:First, the overall level of academic self-concept and school well-being of theelementary school higher grades students in the area is not high, in all dimensions ofacademic self-concept, comparing with academic ability and academic behavior,academic experience and academic achievement are relatively better. Second, the academic self-concept and school well-being of the elementary schoolhigher grades students in the area are different by gender, grade and academicperformance. The academic self-concept and school satisfaction side in schoolwell-being of girls are better than that of boys. Fifth grade students in academicself-concept and school satisfaction and positive emotions were significantly higherthan sixth grade students. The score of excellent academic performance students inacademic self-concept and school satisfaction side in school well-being were higherthan that of poor academic performance students.Third, the academic self-concept is significantly related with school well-being atboth the total score and each dimension. And both the total score academic self-conceptand academic experience and academic ability dimension have significant predictiveeffect on school well-being. Grade, gender, and academic performance are alsosignificantly predict academic self-concept and school well-being in different degree.
