In modern society, there exists lots of examples of students disregard lives and destroylives, which makes educators have to pay more attention to the life education of middleschool students. Chinese courses contain a wealth of life education resources. As Chineseteachers, we should make full use of Chinese teaching materials, mine their life educationcontent and value, in order to help students a deep understanding of the importance and valueof life, and thus establish the correct values of life.The foreign literature works in PEP secondary language new textbooks are rich in humanconnotation.. This paper first describes the meaning of life education, the proposed lifeeducation, the concepts of life education, the current research of life education, then from thestudents’ current situation, Chinese New Curriculum’s call, the proper meaning ofmulticulturalism and students to establish a correct view of life in four areas analyze thenecessity of implementing life education, then from natural link of Chinese teaching and lifeeducation, the selections of foreign literary works is good material for life education in twoareas analyze the feasibility of life education. After that it had a detailed analysis about the lifeeducational content and value of foreign literary works, and made a simple comparison withthe Chinese literary life educational content, Finally it made a number of teaching suggestionsfor foreign literary works to implement life education.This paper seeks to life education theory, trying to dig through life educational contentand value of the foreign literature works in PEP secondary language new textbooks,combining with the appropriate teaching approach. The purpose are to enrich the teachingcontent of foreign literary works, and understand the value of foreign literary works for a newperspective of life education, and change the status quo which neglected to some extent; toplay the role that materials promote students’ growth; to full practice the teaching philosophyof the new curriculum "people-oriented", and help students form the correct life values.Education must focus on the lives of students. Chinese teachers should make full use ofthe textbook in teaching life educational resources to guide students to understand life,reverence for life, love life, that all life including self, others and nature.
