China is well known as the kingdom of poetry and having outstanding achievement,especially in classical poetry. People could feel inspiration from the spirit, and be toucheddeeply from the heart when strolling in the history of classical poetry. But at present,there exist some problems in poetry teaching. Meanwhile, there is a tiny gap between thedegree of satisfaction and the fact of Chinese teacher’s actual teaching method and idea.Students usually have not too much enthusiasm on the classical poetry. How should wesolve this problem? I try to do some research to solve it from the theory of the“xingfagandong” proposed by Ye Jiaying. Xingfagandong is the core part of her literarycriticism theory, and contains many sapiential ideas and inspirations from her experience.This thesis contains two main chapters and is written to explore the detailed definitionand meaning of the theory of xingfagandong.The paper’s starting is an introduction to the theory of xingfagandong proposed by YeJiaying, mainly including the current situation and recent advancement. The writtenmotivation of this thesis was also explained.The first chapter is to discuss the significance of the xingfagandong theory. Thetheory has profound connotation and broad extension, and has important guidingsignificance for classical poetry teaching in middle schools. Referring to nationalcurriculum standard of middle school, the theory is embodied in three aspects: firstly, itprovides a theoretical basis for the teaching objectives; secondly, it tries to establish anew critical standard about classical poetry; thirdly, it provides some method guidance forclassical poetry teaching.The second chapter is to discuss the educational practice of xinfagandong theory inthe classical poetry teaching in middle schools. Ye Jiaying thought her theory could beable to deliver the soul of life inspired by classical poetry, so that readers or listeners canobtain a spiritual incentive of sense. This chapter is written to demonstrate that how toapply the theory of xinfagandong in classical poetry teaching. It includes three aspects:firstly, students enjoy the beauty of poetry by giving a example of poetry speech;secondly, students understand the implied meaning of the words by analyzing paragraph; thirdly, students discuss with each other and develope their opinions by themselves. Theteachers should respect their individual opinions and guide them.
