Since the1920s, Chinese new poetry, whose material selection has gradually increased,theme has been from single to variety and poetry work been from coarse to precious, hadtraversed its ups and downs after it was edited into Chinese textbooks. With the change oftimes and development of new poetry, the development of material selection of new poetryhas lagged behind that of new poetry itself, though the content and the structure of knowledgeof Chinese textbooks has been richened as new poetry joins. And so has the arrangement ofnew poetry lagged behind the teaching of it. Thus, this thesis is intended to summarize thesuccess and shortcomings in the material selection and arrangement system of the presentChinese textbooks of secondary school, trying to build a newer and more reasonable materialselection and arrangement system, which enables students to learn and use more in the courseof new poetry learning during secondary school period.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part carded the history and evolution ofnew poetry as a new literary form after its entering into Chinese teaching material.In this part,the Chinese teaching material of secondary school (People’s Education Press)was taken as anexample to systematically look back upon the history of Chinese teaching material during thetime around May Fourth Movement, after the founding of China and of our new era todetailedly present new poetry’s history status of material selection and arrangement. Thesecond part mainly laid emphasis on the presentation and summary of some problems, likelack of systematicness and integrality in material selection system, by comparing everyversion of the present Chinese teaching material. In the third part, the current situation of newpoetry arrangement system in Chinese of secondary school was analyzed, taking Chineseteaching material of secondary school (People’s Education Press) and some other teachingmaterials (Chinese Language Education Press) as the target, so that comparative analysisabout the existing shortcomings in new poetry arrangement can be carried out. The last partwas based on the analysis of the previous four chapters, in which a set of assumptions aboutnew poetry arrangement system in Chinese of secondary school were put forward accordingto material selection and arrangement principles of Chinese teaching material. In addition, theauthor listed some specific methods of operation in light of the development of literary historyand the arrangement system of theme of literary works.
