The Study On The Influence Of Aging Population On Residents’ Consumption In Jiangxi Province

Population aging is a kind of proses that resulted by the declining proportion ofchildren and labor population and the growing proportion of aging population,whichwas caused by the decline of fertility and mortality.Population aging is an inevitabletrend of the development of social and economic, which,in turn,affects all aspects ofthe social and economic in different degrees.This problem also gradually become thefocus of the discussion between the governments and academic researchers.Socialreproduction is composed by four parts,respectively areproduction,circulation,distribution and consumption.Among them,consumption is oneof the important indicators to measure whether the region’s economy cycleshealthy,which holds the pivotal status in the national economy.However,the lack ofresidents’ consumption has become one of the bottlenecks that obsess the economicdevelopment and social progress in our province.Jiangxi province transformed intothe aging society in2005.Increasing aging population and expanding scope ofpopulation aging regions have hindering the growth of consumption.In order toprepare for the arriving of aging peak, we planted to study the population aging andanalyze the influences of it on residents’ consumption in Jiangxi province, find themeasures to minimize its negative influence and try to take advantage of thisopportunity to search new consumption hot spots and economic growth point.This paper mainly divided into the following several parts:The first part is introduction,in which we mainly introduced thebackgrounds,objectives,significances of this research,also defined the relevantconcepts,summarized the related researches progress and methods at home andabroad.The second part, the present situation and characteristics of the aging of thepopulation in Jiangxi province.We described the present situation from the angles ofthe changes of birth and death rates,dependency ratio and population structure,andconcluded that it tends to older,distribute unequally, and does not match to theeconomic development.The third part,the present situation and problems of residents’ consumption inJiangxi province.The analysis point out serval problems that the general consumption level is low,the residents’consumption structure is identified to optimized, theconsumption gap between urban and rural areas is large,the elderly consumers’ markethas not been well developed.The fourth part, the empirical analysis of the impact of the population aging onconsumption in Jiangxi province.After described the “Standard consumption" modeland "gray relevancy model”,we empirically tested three problems that the agingpopulation’s influence on the level and structure of consumption in Jiangxiprovince,and the different influence of Urban and rural population aging to theconsumption.The conclusions are as follows:Firstly, the level of consumption injiangxi province grows with the increase of income level, but this increase rate will bedecreased by the aging of the population, urban and rural areas are not excepted.Town reduce speed is greater than the countryside,which means that the urbanpopulation aging’s negative impact on consumption growth is greater than thecountryside.In the second place, influenced by the aging of the population, residentsin Jiangxi province spends more in household appliances,health care,goods andservices in Education culture,transportation and communication,and the consumptionstructure has been upgraded.The influences of the urban population aging to food,clothing,Household appliances,Health care,goods and services in Educationculture,transportation and communication are greater than the countryside.The fifth part, according to the results, this paper puts forwardmethods,countermeasures and suggestions to deal with the problems of agingpopulation and promote the growth consumption in Jiangxi province.The sixth part, mainly for the research results of this article, summarizesdeficiency, and the prospect.
