Problems Of Beijing University Student Volunteers In Science Popularization Service And The Corresponding Strategi Es

The project of constructing the talents team for science popularization in ourcountry plans the construction of the science volunteer team, which emphasis onstrengthening the organizational building of science volunteers, developing scienceuniversity student volunteers, carrying out science volunteer service activitiesextensively, establishing incentive mechanism of science volunteers. The sciencevolunteers are an important part of science talent, which occupy more than half ofthe total number of science professionals. The science volunteers are an integral partof strength to carry out the career of spreading and popularizing of science andtechnology. Therefore, the construction of science volunteers is very important forthe project of constructing the talents team. The students volunteers groups not onlyhave high scientific quality, but also own a strong enthusiasm on volunteerservice.Therefore, the students volunteer groups is treasure of talent, which shouldbeen excavated and developed urgently. However, academic circles have relativelyfew researches for the science popularization of Beijing university studentvolunteers.In this paper, the author adopts a combination of methods of theoretical analysisand empirical research. In the course of a year, in order to get a more realisticunderstanding of difficulties that the Beijing student volunteers faced when they takepart in the service of science, the author has participated in the Beijing collegevolunteer service activities repeatedly. And the author took advantage of theopportunity in2013National Science and Technology week and the opening of theBeijing Science and Technology week, gave out346questionnaires to universitystudent volunteer from several universities in Beijing. So the author couldinvestigate how Beijing college student volunteers understand the spread andpopularization of science, research the status of carrying out its science services.The research found that the science services of Beijing student volunteers havecommon problems of science services. Furthermore, there are their unique problems. The author suggests that social should give adequate social recognition and financialsupport for university student volunteer service activities, and improve the workingsystem of university student volunteer service activities. The popular science workjoint conference of Beijing should do something like creating the sciencemanagement system of Beijing university student volunteer service activities,building Beijing College Volunteer Alliance with related departments, guiding therenovating popular science service mode well as optimizing the recruitment driveand enhancing a service learning of university student volunteers. We should furtherimprove and develop the popular science service business of the university studentvolunteers. Firstly, we need to carry out science education services for universitystudent volunteers. So we could overall promote their awareness of science.Secondly, we should carry out science practical activities to enhance their scienceservice capabilities. Thirdly, we should summarize the experiences of scienceservices to enhance their science service concept.
