Cooperative group learning is a kind of new learning methods and teaching strategies, which is based on group learning and achieves group learning tasks through cooperation and communication among the group members. Students can stimulate their learning interest, develop their sense of team spirit as well as their learning ability of Mathematics. In the 90 thof twenty century, we have a comparatively systematic study on cooperative group learning and accumulate plenty of practical experience when teaching reform was carried out. At present, cooperative group learning research is characterized as following features: more and more people have taken up this study; the contents of the study become broader and broader which not only pay attention to students’ grades but also to basic theory of cooperative study; the fruit of study becomes richer and richer; the study of organizations is more and more perfect. In the course of practical mathematics teaching, although the application of cooperative group learning is widely used, it is usually applied in a shallow level, so there are still some problems,which leads to the failure to cooperative group learning. This article intends to explore this kind of cooperative group learning in mathematics from this perspective.This article develops the research study of cooperative group learning based on all the math teachers and a part of students in Gelan Primary school in Changshou district through questionnaire investigation. The following results have been showed through this investigation: group members are in lack of team spirit; teachers also ignores the cultivation of students’ team cooperation consciousness; students are quite unclear of tasks in the cooperative group learning; in the practical teaching, teachers often carry out cooperative group learning, which cause abuse of this method; discussion is usually stopped in the half by teachers because of insufficient time leftThe thesis states the significance and aim of the research through investigation on cooperative group study. The author has given the definition of cooperative group learning after referring to literature review at home and abroad. It has built as studygroup and summarize the basic procedures according to the investigation results from Gelan Primary School in Changshou district. After the exploration of cooperative group learning there, the author finds it useful for students’ cooperation and communication to group reasonably, divide the work clearly, set questions properly, have a clear learning tasks and give sufficient time. The researh results show that the cooperative group learning can not only improve the students’ mathematics performance but also cultivate students’ innovation and cooperation consciousness.
