In the early 21th century, the curriculum reform of basic music education has entered into a new era in our country. The curriculum reform of basic music education is developing vigorously, while the music education of people with visual impairment as an integral part of its has developed relatively slowly. Therefore, the problems of music education of people with visual impairment urgently needs our attention and research.The research object of this paper has selected the A school for the blind in the southwest of China and the research method has adopted case study research, questionnaire, the interview, observation, statistics, analysis and so on. This paper deeply probes into the problems of music education of people with visual impairment and puts forward the countermeasures, by making field observation and survey on the music teachers, students with visual impairment and some of leaders in this school for the blind,with respect to the relative issues of music education of people with visual impairment. The purpose of this paper is to provide some useful reference for music education of people with visual impairment in other areas of China and to make contribution to further advance the development of our country special music education.The paper is divided into six main parts. The introduction shows that the research background and significance, current situation,object of study and research method. The first part, shows that the summary of music education of people with visual impairment in our country, discussing the development of music education of people with visual impairment in our country and its positive influence on students with visual impairment. The second part shows that statistics and analysis of questionnaire about music education in A school for the blind. The third part shows that statistics and analysis of interview from the teachers and students in A school for the blind. The fourth part shows that survey and analysis of music classroom teaching and music extracurricular activities in A school for the blind. The fifth part shows that conclusion and counter measures, summarizing the survey of music education in A school for the blind in the southwest of China, probing into problems of music education of people with visual impairment in our country and putting forward countermeasures to solve those problems.
