Recent years, with the highly increasing complexity and continuous deepening research of the mental health problems in university students, the study of students’ sense of happiness is acquired more and more attention by educators and professors. The sense of happiness by students is closely related to the cultural background, the subject unique features and the services of their universities. In this research, it sets the agricultural and forestry universities as samples, focuses and analyzes the sense of happiness by students in these universities. This research has positive practical significance and theoretical value in improving the students’ sense of belonging and enhancing the students’ psychological health educational effect.In this research, it takes the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University as a sample and uses Diener’s subjective well-being scale. The research divides all students into different genders’, majors’ and grades’ groups to do the questionnaire survey and interviews by using Lercourt, Von Baeyer, Ware, Cox’s(1979) multi dimension and multi causal scale(MMCS) and seminars visiting research method. It analyzes and grasps the current happiness condition of agricultural and forestry university’s students, considers the difference between the influencing factors of university’s students’ sense of happiness and the demographic variables, explores the relationship between happiness and students’ academic achievement, interpersonal relationship. The results of this study show that:1. The overall level of happiness by the agricultural and forestry university students is medium level, students are generally satisfied with life and have a positive cognition of happiness. According to the statistical analysis, it has a significant difference in grades and majors in agricultural and forestry university students’ sense of happiness. Based on the grades, the ranking order from high to low are grade two, grade one, grade three and grade four. Based on the differential sequence in majors, the ranking order from high to low are engineering, science, liberal arts and agriculture. Although the difference in gender, political affiliation and love situation is not notable, there are some specific ranking. The happiness of girls is higher than boys, the Communist Party and the Communist Youth League students’ level of happiness is higher than normal students and the students who have a romantic relationship have a higher happiness level than those without. The students’ sense of happiness has no significant differences in born city, class character and other factors.2. The particularity of school disciplines has effect on the relevant factors of general happiness by students in agricultural and forestry universities, including economic status, academic achievement, social support and interpersonal relationship. First, the agricultural and forestry university students’ overall happiness level is positively correlated with the economic status, but there are individual differences, the economic condition is not the only determine in the level of happiness; second, the level of happiness and the academic achievement of students shows a positive correlation; third, the level of happiness of students in agricultural and forestry university and social support has a general relevance, but lack of significant association. The attribution analysis found that happiness level by students in agricultural and forestry universities was influenced by interpersonal relationship.3. This research takes the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University as an example to establish the agricultural and forestry university students sense of happiness evaluation model, compiles a questionnaire of “university students sense of happiness”. Focusing on the sample university, this research puts forward some concrete countermeasures and suggestions to improve the level of happiness of students in agricultural and forestry universities. These suggestions including open the students’ sense of happiness course, pay attention to fairness of the school management policies, promote a good campus culture construction and strengthen the sense of measure by students.
