The emergence of e-Textbook provides a new technical support for the next generation students’digital learning. However, as e-Textbook begins to enter the daily educational setting, e-Textbook failed to achieve the expected effect and couldn’t be used in classroom teaching in large-scale and effectively, due to the design and application of e-Textbook are relatively simple.Therefore, based on the insufficiency of researches on the design and application of e-Textbook currently, this study would introduce Learning Design into the design and application of e-Textbook, attempting to propose design and application modes based on Learning Design. Then an e-Textbook would be designed, developed and used in junior high school mathematics courses. The teaching experiment would last two weeks, involving 2 mathematics teachers and 60 students.In the study, different methods like classroom observation, questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. Analysis showed that using e-Textbooks, students’learning satisfaction, involvement and effects are very high. And students have highly recognized the efficiency and effectiveness of self-directed learning with the support of the e-Textbooks. And teachers think e-Textbook and its application are very good, but it needs long-term practice to get significant results. The idea and method developed in the study provide new research ideas and good reference cases for the design and application of e-Textbooks in the future.
