Objective: Nowadays,the postpartum mother’s physical and mental condition are highly concerned by the community as they play a very important role to maintain family harmony and social stability.In this article,based on the physical and psychological characteristics of postpartum women and the unique exercise form of yoga,functional features and treatment efficacy,creating a yoga exercise suitable for postpartum woman,guiding them to practice safely and scientifically,which we improve the maternal body shape,strength physical function and enhance mental health as well.Subjects and Methods: Recruit sixties maternal women from Changsha City,38 people actually involved in the experiment,21 in experimental group practice yoga for a period of 10 weeks,three times a week,get 16 valid data copies,the contrast group of 17 people,not practicing yoga,nor other regular exercise,get 12 valid data copies.And then carry a test for the study subjects on body shape index,physical and mental health index before and after the practicing,to compare the maternal physical and psychological changes.Results:(1) After 10 weeks of practicing yoga,the body shape index for experimental group and the contrast group change correspondingly, the difference of Waist-to-hip ratio and thigh width is significant(p<0.05),Calf circumference and arm circumference shows a very significant difference(p <0.01),Also,the experimental group gained an average weight decline 2.49 kg,while the contrast group decreased 0.34 kg,the average waist circumference reduction in the experimental group is 2.93 cm,and the contrast group decreased 1.2cm,the hip of experimental group reduce average 2.78 cm,the contrast group decreased 1.26 cm.(2)There is significant differences for bust between the experimental group and the contrast group,also the vital capacity difference,p value for Body ante flexion in sitting position is less than 0.01 and there’s difference for vital capacity,body ante flexion in sitting position,Grip strength and hop on one foot with eyes closed,p value is less than 0.05.(3) In the SCL-90 mental scale test,the normal value after the experiment was greatly higher than the value before the experiment, especially obsessive-compulsive symptoms, anxiety, Paranoia and other psychological indicators, which is higher than normal before the experiment,while in the yoga intervention,return to the normal range.(4)We can learn from the interview with the experimental group members,that 80% of postpartum women believe through yoga exercises,the effect of physical therapy is outstanding,by practicing yoga,75% of women feel obvious improvement of sleep quality,and the neck,shoulders,pelvic muscles around is more relaxed.Conclusion:(1)Yoga is a sport that very suitable for postpartum women,the result of exercise is highly recognized by maternal as it fulfill their needs of physical and mental health.(2) Yoga exercise is designed reasonably and scientificcally, with precise action guiding,the postpartum women can practice smoothly and comfortable without any injury. It can form the body shape effectively, improve the physical qualities,enhance the physical and mental health level,reduce the risk of heart disease,also,it benefits for physical therapy efficacy,can relieve and treat headache,neck and shoulder pain,back pain or breast jam,other physical symptoms etc.
