Today’s society is a learning society. Life-long learning has become a main method for people to adapt to society and seek development. And also, developing the autonomous learning ability is an important guarantee of life-long learning. In recent years, autonomous learning has got gradually popularization and application in teaching, but the related researches in sports teaching are still be lack, especially in volleyball teaching. As an effective way of learning, autonomous learning plays an important role in ensuring the subjectivity and autonomy of students’ learning. On the basis of theory and practice about autonomous learning both at home and abroad, this paper attempts to combine with the teaching characteristics of volleyball general lessons of Beijing Sport University and develop the experiment researches of college volleyball teaching courses. Comparing to the traditional teaching ways, this paper also deeply understand and use the influence of autonomous learning in students’ basic technology, theory and learning ability in volleyball general lessons. The aim is to provide beneficial reference for theory and practice of college sports and volleyball teaching, to further perfect the theory of autonomous learning and to provide reference for the improvement of traditional teaching.First, this paper uses methods of document literature and expert interview to theoretically demonstrate the feasibility of autonomous learning in volleyball general lessons. Second, the research determines the experiment test indicators by giving out questionnaires and making interviews to first-line teachers in the volleyball teaching and research section of Beijing Sports University. At last, teaching experiment is done according to the design. By statistically analyzing the experimental data, there are following conclusions:1. Autonomous learning can improve students’ normalization of passing and padding technology in volleyball general lessons.2. Autonomous learning can help students better understand and acquire volleyball theoretical knowledge in general lessons.3. Autonomous learning method can help students to improve the ability of autonomous learning in volleyball general lessons.
