Internationalization is one of the main trends of higher education research and development,is also the main indicators of a university level.Discipline is not only a university academic basic unit, and also a basic of university organization "cell".So the internationalization of university developed on the basis of discipline.In a university,the preponderant discipline has relatively talent advantage,research strength,facility advantage,and also has the international advantage.Discipline internationalization is in the discipline as the basic unit of the university, the departments or agencies organizational level,that take the multinational, cross-cultural discipline development goal,trend,rational and management model into the process of discipline construction in our country.And it is a process of through the international exchange and interaction,continuous innovation and accumulation to form a knowledge system with international influence.It is also a process that the knowledge attributes and organizational attributes of discipline mutually coordinate,mutual symbiosis and collaborative development in the process of internationalization.Obviously,the western high level university should depend on preponderant discipline to develop their own internationalization.S university is one of the six high level universities that country supervised in the west.Education discipline as a first level discipline is the signature of S university,and its internationalization also scored considerable achievements.Through the case study of S university’s education discipline,it could reflect the status quo,problems and reasons of the internationalization of preponderant discipline in the western high level university,then work out the corresponding suggestion.Through the interview to the teachers in the Faculty of education and students who has studied abroad.Its Interview data present that the successful factors to promote the internationalization of preponderant discipline in the western high level university include establish international talent training system,international scientific research and academic exchange platform,international social service mechanism.On the view of macro,medium and micro,on the basis of the interview data,exhibit that there are three primary problems to impede the procedure of internationalization of preponderant discipline in the western high level university:lose the soul of internationalization,forget the geographical advantages that located in the west,the academic level of visiting students is lower than no-visiting students.Given above analysis,the paper got the conclusion that there are three main reasons:lack of originality discipline theory research,the improper idea about internationalization of subject,Students go abroad to study without academic purposes.Bringing above analysis into conclusion,the paper made four suggestions to promote the internationalization of preponderant discipline in the western high level university:developing creative research to get original theory and keep the international soul,rooted in western and make full use of geographical advantages to promote the internationalization of preponderant discipline,strengthen the mechanism of visiting abroad to improve visiting students’ academic level,building brand of preponderant discipline to improve its international influence.
