Research On The Establishment Of University's Preponderant Discipline Construction Evaluation Index System

Situated in its key period of transiting from the big country to the powerful country of higher education,China is trying hard to seek new breakthroughs in higher education in the increasingly competitive international education environment.Issue of the "Double First-rate" construction plans has provided new thoughts and perspectives to the connotative development,quality promotion and high-level construction of Chinese higher education.As the high-level form of discipline development,preponderant disciplines are characterized by their edge-leading,interdisciplinary and practical application-focusing properties.Construction of preponderant disciplines pays attention to characteristic discipline development and quality pursuit and promotion,and is assigned the times task of maintaining the Chinese characteristics and aiming at the world's first rate level.It is the key for promotion of overall Chinese higher education development level.With the active role of diagnosis and guidance,discipline evaluation is of important significance to promotion of the preponderant disciplines' internal and external resources allocation efficiency and to realization of the university's "Double First-rate" construction strategic target.Through scientific evaluation of the preponderant discipline construction,orientate the preponderant disciplines accurately,adopt the distinctive development concepts,grasp firmly the significant opportunities for the world's first-rate university and first-rate discipline construction,gather the first-rate talents,and accumulate the original innovative abilities to realize new leap of discipline construction,university development and higher education.With the preponderant discipline construction evaluation system establishment as the research core,by building the preponderant discipline construction evaluation index dimensions and systems,and taking related personnel of Jiangsu university's preponderant construction project as the research targets,this paper has tested rationality of the built evaluation index system,and proposed the measures and suggestions for promoting the preponderant discipline construction from the evaluation perspective.This paper is composed of six chapters.Chapter I is the preface and Chapter II is about the related concepts and theoretical foundation.Chapter III is the comparative research of the evaluation index system.The initial index establishment dimensions have been concluded by analyzing,screening and comparing the widely-used indexes in the world.Chapter IV is evaluation of the index system establishment.Though the initial set selection,model building,questionnaire design and pre-research,the main dimensions of the university's preponderant discipline construction evaluation index system have been identified,namely the student conditions,the scientific research conditions,faculty structure,material resources,talent cultivation mode,faculty level,organizational management,talent cultivation quality,scientific research level and discipline prestige.Chapter V is the verification and analysis of the evaluation index system.The empirical research has been conducted in five universities in Jiangsu to further verify rationality of the above evaluation dimensions and specific elements and finally formulate the evaluation index system involving 10 primary indexes and 60 measurement clauses.And the index weight of the indicators were measured.Also,the targets,methods and evaluation result acquisition in the evaluation process have been discussed as well.Chapter VI is about the conclusion,measures and revelations.According to the research conclusion,on one hand,attention should be paid to the discipline's connotative development during the university's preponderant discipline construction evaluation system,the evaluation manners should be adjusted dynamically,and the index weight can be adjusted correspondingly according to the different discipline properties;on the other hand,during the preponderant discipline construction,the "Double First-rate" construction opportunities should be grasped firmly,the faculties should be optimized,top and innovative talents should be cultivated,resources construction should be enhanced,organizational management should be intensified,attention should be paid to the national and social needs and the discipline prestige accumulation,and the open,integrated and international development path should be taken.
