The Weixian Second Middle School’ Extracurricular Reading Problems And Countermeasures

With the deepening of the education teaching reform, more and more attentions from educational circles and other social people of various fields were paid into Chinese extracurricular reading. In Chinese curriculum standards of compulsory education(2011) the importance of Chinese extracurricular reading was throughout manifested, and detailed requests about the extracurricular reading of junior high school were also put forward. However, when it comes to the actual Chinese teaching exercise, many problems related to Chinese extracurricular reading were shown up.The second middle school of Weixian belongs to neither the city middle school nor the rural one, but a county middle school, an intermediate between the two levels. During the investigation of Chinese extracurricular reading of the second middle school of Weixian, the author discovered a few facts: the educational ideas of the school were out of date, although there exists basic equipment and conditions of extracurricular reading; both the leadership and the teachers of the school only focus on the improvement of students’ score and ignore the students’ extracurricular reading so much that the students of this school are busy in dealing with the endless homework and exams, with its library as a useless building. The old-fashioned educational ideas and the unpractical teaching guidelines identified the extracurricular reading of that school as the most urgent problems.There are five major parts in this thesis. The introduction part explained the reason of this topic of the study, the research status quo both foreign and domestic and the research methodology. The first chapter generalized the requirements and meaning of the New Standard of Chinese Curriculum towards Chinese extracurricular reading. The second chapter takes the second school of Weixian as an example to investigate the students’ Chinese extracurricular reading status quo of this school and analyzes the problems of Chinese extracurricular reading of this school based on the results of the investigation. In view of the current problem in Chinese extracurricular reading of the school, the third chapter put forward the according strategies in the purpose that the students could make essential improvement in Chinese extracurricular reading Chinese extracurricular reading. The last part made a conclusion of the main contents of the thesis.The author selected Weixian second middle school to be the research object of Chinese extracurricular reading teaching, in order to arouse the county middle school’s attention of the Chinese extracurricular reading, and to drive the teaching reform of rural middle school.
