With the constant improvement of China’s education system, as a new physical education curriculum the sports art project is coming into people’s horizons which has gained more and more social attention. In our country, the major sports colleges and universities open the arts major (sports performance or a professional dance performance). To adapt to the current social demand for sports arts talent, part of the higher normal colleges and universities also gradually add the sports art specialty. Because of the short open time, professional knowledge of the major system is imperfect, and the training target is not clear, the professional course is not enough as well. How to solve the problems existing in the higher normal professional sports professional art, and to make the courses more scientific, rational, promoting China’s higher pedagogical colleges and universities sports art professional rapid development, is the hot topic for sports research in China.This study used the literature method, questionnaire investigation, expert interview method with the student, comparative analysis, mathematical statistics method and other methods, to further study on professional training objectives, curriculum structure, curriculum content and curriculum requirements and so on in our country. The following conclusions are carried on:1. Because of the unified name of sports professional art setting in Chinese higher pedagogical colleges and universities the training target is inconsistent;2. The sports art professional training target position in higher normal colleges and universities is not clear, and the feature of professional is not prominent;3. Unreasonable curriculum structure, large proportion of the public required course, and little proportion of the professional and technical courses, affected student’s professional and technical training;4. The courses are not focusing in part of the schools. And professional is not outstanding enough. The requirements of courses are not reasonable enough. All of above make the characteristics of pedagogical colleges and universities sports arts professional not highlight;5. The short time of education practice time, single way, make the students’ practical abilities improvement no guarantee;6. Teachers and venues play an important role in the cultivation of talents. Universities still exist great shortage, and cannot meet the demand of curriculum construction.China’s higher normal school sports professional art should be in conformity with the social needs of personnel training. And the professional training target must clear and accurate. Also the curriculum should be scientific and reasonable, professional characteristics should be significant. Mainly develop the students’ ability of practice, to make the students after graduation which can quickly adapt to the demand of the society, and fully embodies the characteristics of normal universities.
