Chemical concepts that form the basis of chemistry, chemical concept is very important to build knowledge networks, it will focus on the chemistry of both teaching and learning, it also is the difficulty. But it makes it difficult for students to understand abstract and applications, and the learning chemistry concepts is mostly that the teachers talk about keywords, the students memorizing, and strengthen understanding in the exercises. So the students can recite every and they can answer better in the examineing the concept of meaning exercises, but there are some mistakes in the concept of extension and applicaion exercises. So what kind of learning method should we use for abstract concept in high school chemistry? Inquiry learning has proposed in the eighth curriculum reform, and there is more inquiry learning based on the experiments and element compound. The research is intended to study the status quo based on the concept of teaching inquiry.Specific research process consists of three steps: Firstly, we have reviewed the literature to grasp the current situation related to domestic and foreign research, and explain the concepts and theories. Secondly, we have prepared a questionnaire to find out Pingshan County, Hebei Province, three high schools based on the concept of scientific inquiry learning situation, then we get the questionnaires back for data processing, explore and study the status quo based on scientific inquiry in high school chemistry concepts, and this study also gives a concept learning cases based on scientific inquiry. Finally, we put some suggestions to both schools and teachers by analyzing the results.Through the research, we have come to the following conclusions: the first, the students have less interest in learning chemistry concepts, and be short of opportunity to explore them, the core concepts based on the inquiry learning haven’t implement well; the student have a weak ability of inquiry learning baesd on the concepts, few of them can ask questions, make conjecture, design, collect evidence, draw conclusions, which the teachers often replaced, it is high time to improve the students’ association, innovation, questioning, analysis, knowledge transfer ability, contact discipline, and thinking skills. The second, though the chemistry teachers admitted the inquiry teaching, the selection of the contents, the implementation and the evaluation methods depends entirely on their own preferences cann’t be regular, it’s generally considered that the abstract knowledge unfit to carry out inquiry teaching activities; the teachers’ theory in scientific inquiry and the ability in design and implement inquiry teaching baesd on chemistry concepts could be better. The last, the level of school management and based research is an important factor that influences inquiry learning.In the view of the research findings, we propose the following measures: the teachers should improve their theoretical level of scientific inquiry, improve their ability to design and implement inquiry, the teachers should be inquiry learning initiative to the students, the schools should organise activities for inproving the teaching and researching frequently and strengthen the management capacity of teaching.
