Chemical science is the important basis of the environmental education. To solve environmental problems, the chemical knowledge is really essential. Thus, studying and mastering chemical knowledge is an effective way to develop public environmental awareness. The age of 15/16 is the key period of personal development, which is also an important stage for the formation of outlook on world and the outlook on life. During this period, timely environmental education for the teenagers is very significant in the high school. If they have developed good environmental awareness, either the future social behavior or the action on the national economic development will be positive and energetic. As chemistry benefits mankind, it also might become an important factor of environmental crisis. Because of its particular characteristics, chemistry makes itself an essential in developing teenagers’ environmental sense. Therefore, it is necessary to deeply and rightly study the teenager’s current situation of environmental sense; meanwhile, we should focus on the features of environmental sense development. By means of this, we can be more effective in environmental education. At the same time, it will offer the valuable reference to develop middle school students’ environmental awareness, which is beneficial to improve the environmental education and to do the related research in middle school.This article is composed of six sections. The first section is preface. In the section, the background and significance of the research is elaborated; meanwhile, the purpose and method of the research are clarified. The second section mainly introduces the related environmental sense and the environmental education. In the section, at present the internal and external environmental state is revealed. The third section shows the research and analysis on students’ environmental sense. Based on the questionnaire to senior 2 students of the county, we can approximately understand the current environmental sense of them; meanwhile, we can also analyses and summarize the elements which influence environmental sense. The fourth section introduces the main method and measure taken in the teaching activities. The specific approach contains: firstly the natural character of the pilot school region is introduced, which can highlight the importance of environmental protection; andsecondly it carries on the environmental education and practical activity to use the chemical teaching and so on. Through classroom teaching, extracurricular activities, experiment and exploration, and daily life, we can develop students’ behavior habit of environmental protection; moreover, we can also establish the qualified teacher team and raise the teaching efficiency. The fifth section illustrates some typical, related environmental educational examples based on classroom teaching, microscale experiment designing, social research and so on. The sixth section gives the conclusion of the research and also offers several suggestions for teaching process and teaching methods.
