The educationists and psychologists pay more attention to the high school students’ mental health in recent years, the teachers punishment and coping style have unique effects in the numerous factors of mental health. The research about the relationship among teachers punishment,coping style to the high school students’ mental health not only enriches the content of high school students mental health research, but also has great significance to improve high school students’ coping strategies. The study has some warning for teachers to punish, and provides basis for the mental health education in the high school.This study used questionnaires to investigate some students in two senior high school in Xinhua and Guangzhou,in order to reveal the complex relationship among teachers’ punishment, individuals coping style to school students’ mental health.In this study,the teachers’ punishment is the categorical variable, and combine with the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire and Middle School Students’ Mental Health Scale. In the study, 460 valid questionnaires were finally obtained,then we use spss19.0 to analyze the data.the following are the conclusions of this study:(1) The teachers’ punishment is still widespread, 54.8% of the students are often punished by their teachers.(2)There are so many senior high school students with mild mental health problems. The psychological health problems of learning stress and anxiety are easy to occur on high school students.(3)High school students tend to select positive coping styles, but high school students’ sharing on positive coping dimensions is significantly lower than that of the norm.(4)Teachers’ punishment exist obvious gender differences, the probability of teachers’ punishment is greater on boys; there are significant differences on gender and grade, boys’ scores in positive coping dimension were significantly lower than girls, grade three students are more inclined to adopt positive coping styles; there is no significant gender differences on mental health, but the girls in obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, anxiety and mood swings these dimensions scored significantly higher than boys, and there is a significant difference between grades.(5)Teachers’ punishment, coping style and mental health exist significant correlation.Teachers ’ punishment is significantly associated with mental health. Negative coping style and mental health are significantly related. Teachers’ punishment is significantly associated with passive coping.(6)Teachers’ punishment can significantly predict low level of mental health and negative coping on senior high school students, the negative coping style could significantly predict low levels of mental health.(7)The negative coping style has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between the teachers’ punishment and senior high school students’ mental health.The high school students’ coping styles have partial intermediary effects between teachers’ punishment and high school students’ mental health. When students take the negative coping style to face the teachers’ punishment, their psychological health is easier to get the negative effects. Therefore,teachers should try to avoid punishment, to adopt more reasonable education methods on one hand; on the other hand, teachers should cultivate the students’ positive coping styles, reduce their negative coping styles, at the same time should also strengthen training students’ sense of independence and ability to deal with problems.
