Grandparents and parents’ upbringing are two main forms of infant-rearing in China, the phenomenon that 0-3 years old infants were reared by their grandparents is particularly prominent in the vast rural areas, which has profound impacts on the infant development. With the deepening and breakthroughs of brain and nerve research, people are more clearly realize that the infant periods during 0-3 years old are critical for the infant’s physical and mental development. The creation of good material, education and living environment will contribute to a solid foundation for the future development of infant’s physical and mental health, whether the grandparents and parental upbringing form education resultant force is important for the healthy development of 0-3 years old infants.To effectively improve the education quality, maximize the positive roles and format the education resultant force of the grandparents and parental upbringing. 0-3 years old infant families in Renshou county of Sichuan were chosen as the research object,two hundred and forty six grandparents upbringing families were selected through purposive sampling technique, thirteen of them were furthered studied through field observation and open-ended interviews. The results showed that grandparents are the absolute power for infant upbringing at a younger age, their cultural level is low, and the communication is less between parents and grandparents. Due to the differences in the education concept, education content and education mode, the grandparent’s and parental upbringing can’t well form education resultant force, which leads to unsocial, unconstrained and retarded intelligence development for the infants, and even in some severe cases, parental communication and family harmony can be influenced. Social cultural, family structure, family economic conditions and other factors are the main reasons for failure formation of grandparent’s and parental upbringing resultant force. The resultant force can be achieved by strengthening the support from rural township government, giving full strength of social home, kindergarten and community organizations, constructing the communication platform for grandparent’s and parental upbringing, strengthening the training of scientific family education, and building a good family education model.This article is comprised of four parts, the first part is the introduction, which gives an overview of the background and significance, research questions, literature review, research objectives and methods of this topic. The second part describes current status and performance of infant upbringing by grandparents and parents in rural areas of H Township of Ren Shou, it is also the key part of this paper, mainly reveals the family education of 0 to 3 years old infants reared by their grandparents and parents, sorts the objective performance resulting from the failure formation of education resultant force. The third part mainly analyzed the adverse effects and causes for no formation of education resultant force. The fourth part mainly explained the strategies for obtaining education resultant force for 0-3 year old infants. |
