| Vocational education is an important part of China’s education system. Specialization of teachers in secondary vocational schools has become the key factor to the result of secondary vocational education. Therefore, the training of vocational teachers is gaining extensive attention in the field. But the implementation of training may be affected by various factors. For training institutions, they, on the one hand, need to understand the demand of training in accordance with the characteristics of vocational education, and meanwhile, the training should be carried out with purposes and plans so as to obtain the desired results. Emphasis of training for teachers in vocational schools is put mainly on the form and achievements. On the issue of how to improve the achievements, experts have carried out a lot of investigation and research to find that the basis of increasing the outcome of training is mastering the training needs, while the needs analysis should start with the practical setting confronted by the staff as well as the teaching tasks. The analysis results would directly affect the training effect.This research studies vocational teachers with questionaires for an in-depth investigation and analysis on the training needs of some staff from four vocational schools in Sichuan. The article includes the following sections: The first section introduces the research background, meaning and purpose, ideas and methods. The second part of the article discusses the theoretical basis, but elaborated the position and social function of secondary vocational education in China. The third part focuses on the current situation of teacher training in vocational schools. It is observed that the Chinese government has given much support to the training of teachers in vocational schools, providing a favorable policy backup for the training outcome. In the fourth part, detailed discussion on the training needs is made from the aspects of training contents, training methods, ability improvement, instructors, training place as well as evaluation mechanisms based on the questionairs.The fifth part analyses the reasons of disagreement between the training of secondary vocational schools and teachers’ demand from aspects like training goals, training contents, training resources and training mechanisms, etc. It can be perceived that our country is facing great difficulty in constructing a training system for these tearchers. And how to meet the training needs of teachers from different professions and different levels has become the primary problem. In the meantime, the results indicates that research work on trainingneeds of vocational teachers is of great urgency. In the sixth part, based on the results of the survey and research, the author puts forward some proposals and measures on enhancing the training outcome. The seventh part is the summary of this study, presenting that ideal training model should focus on problem solving. |
