As a co-written guidance book dedicated to reading and writing, Wen Xin is a combination of Ye Shengtao and Xia Mianzun’s educational theories and practices of reading and writing. In the context of writing –oriented Chinese teaching in high school and unpractical generalizations of writing and reading guidance books at the time, Mr. Ye and Mr. Xia co-authored Wen Xin published in High School Students so as to convert the tendency. In this book, Mr. Ye and Mr. Xia proposes that reading and writing are equal. By reading Wen Xin, its view of teaching of reading and writing proves successful and worthy of practical application in teaching for now and future Chinese teachers.Recent years have witnessed new achievements of Wen Xin in academic circle, but through literature review it can be found that, in addition to the systematic study of reading and writing, scholars focus on the study of writing teaching instead of its view of reading teaching. Thus, from the view of reading in Wen Xin, this thesis has yielded some helpful experiences for Chinese teachers in terms of reading teaching.This thesis will be organized into five parts as followed. With their own real-life experience, extracurricular and curricular learning, students, as the readers, should conduct effective reading under the guidance of teachers; as reading materials are students’ textbooks, an exploration of the students’ effective text reading by the language teaming up with the content of texts in Wen Xin should be made; as with reading contents, students need to give full play to their understanding to appreciate the texts with the aid of extra reference books; under the reading requirements of detailed and subtle appreciation, an analysis of students’ interpretation of the links between the rhetorical expressions and main ideas of texts in Wen Xin; the last past is about students and teachers’ perspectives of old and new culture in the classical and modern Chinese co-existing period.
