| With the strategy of sustainable development launching, education for sustainable development acts as a cornerstone to fulfill and guarantee sustainable development for human. At this stage, to initiate "water" as the theme of education goes to one of the most key approaches for implementing the sustainable development of education in recent years. Basically, this research keens to make water education more academically systematic and complete, as well as suitable for the needs of schooling based on previous studies. Hence, by analyzing and referencing from currently known research works, it is obviously constructive that the research paper’s object shall be newly to promote and present a unique viewpoint, based on school-based curriculum, to design and spread school-based curriculum out for the water education in middle schools.Based on school-based curriculum, water education-related theories and literature researches, the paper tries to exploit school-based curriculum on water education at the First High School of Changsha which has been selected to be experimental body. The following contents consist of four parts.1.Underlying research issues. As a consequence of the popularity of China Water School programs on the background of sustainable development, the paper provides a big picture on current water education school-based curriculum in China and oversee, and set First High School of Changsha as the research object. Starting from the development of community, schools and students, the research purpose and significance of the thesis is noted in paper which puts forward by means of case studies, literature research and survey analysis and other research methods.2.Discussion on school-based curriculum and its designing model. The paper will be analyzing and showing concepts of school-based curriculum, designing characteristics, general model and procedure, and rules of designing to form theoretical supports for subsequent researches on curriculum designing.3.Development of School-based curriculum for water education.The designing can be divided into three parts: the 1st stage is based on the existing education resources in school(SWOS Analysis), and both of students and parents shoulder responsibility to finish analysis of students’ practical demand alternatively. It exactly includes a couple of questions to be found out. How students and parents think of current situation of water resources? Are they interested to further study on field of knowledge about water? The first high school of Changsha, whose schooling situation investigation indicated the adequate conditions and resources, and students also need to learn the water analysis of school-based curriculum of education, is mature for water education school-based curriculum development; Acknowledging as basic orientation of the curriculum design as a starting point, the 2nd stage id drawing up nature and concept of the water education curriculum in middle school, setting goals and targets through the analysis of the findings. On this basis, the paper designs the contents and puts forward correspondent recommendations; Aiming at module two “Awareness of Xiangjiang River†and module three “Sustainable Water Managementâ€, the 3th part is designing “Water Quality Surveillance of Xiangjiang River†and “Treatment of heavy metal pollution individually, which provides case-study for future.designing. There are two examples: “Investigation on hygienic quality of Xiangjiangâ€, and “Treatment of heavy metal contamination of waterâ€. The two cases are somewhat correlated in terms of the contents. 4.Conclusion and thinking. Keeping on making diagnosis of deficiencies and pointing out the next research direction which is based on the existing researching findings about water education curriculum. |
