Xin Anting was a famous educator, publisher and popular literature writer in Chinese modern and contemporary history. He dedicated his whole life to compiling and publishing textbooks, education researches and writing popular books for children and teenagers, which had made a significant contribution for our country’s basic education, higher education, adult education, and the compiling and publishing industry of teaching materials. Xin Anting was not only a pioneer on the general textbook compilation in our country, he was also the founder of the elementary education in the new era of China. Most of all, Xin Anting had rich experience in teaching practice and theoretical research on the Chinese language education in elementary and secondary schools. And he finally proposed a set of scientific ideological system of Chinese language education by exploring the objective laws of education development and the children and teenagers’ characteristics in physical and mental development and rules of cognitive development in the process of his own teaching, compiling and creative practice. Some of his ideas and theories about the Chinese teaching were put forward comparatively early in China. This research will systematically expound Xin Anting’s thoughts on Chinese language education.Nowadays, there are few systematical research achievements on Xin Anting’s Chinese education ideology in our country. In order to discuss further, the author has sorted out Xin Anting’s chronology(1904-1988)(see appendix). On the basis of a better grasp of these materials, the author builds a system frame to study Xin Anting’s Chinese education ideology, which will be expounded below from four aspects. The first part is an introduction, which is a brief one of Xin Anting’ life,giving the readers a first impression on him. After then, researcher will analyse the research motivation of the author and the meaning of his study. At the same time, this part summarizes the research status about XinAnTing, in other words, literature review; The second part summarizes Xin Anting’s Chinese education practice from a macro perspective, including Xin Anting’s educating practice, editing practice and education research in a broad sense, in order to form a macroscopical understanding basis and to have an overall grasp of Xin Anting’s Chinese education ideology; The third part is the emphasis of this paper, analyzing deeply the connotation of Xin Anting’s language education thoughts, and exploring Xin Anting’s ideas from three aspects:character teaching, reading teaching and composition teaching. To be specific, they are "recognizing character concentratedly", " combination of reading and teaching intensively and partly", and "writing an article from writing words";The fourth part briefly discusses the enlightenment of Xin Anting’s language education ideas to today’s Chinese teaching, including the enlightenment to classroom teaching for Chinese teachers and to out-of-class learning for students.Xin Anting’s language education ideology is based on his plentiful education practice and research. Therefore, it is more scientific and progressive, but also has some limitations because of the special era when it forms, so we should hold a critical attitude to learn it. Overall, Xin Anting’s language education thoughts has important reference and enlightenment meaning to today’s Chinese education and teaching, which will guide our Chinese teaching reform to a great extent.
