The adolescent period which the junior middle school students are in is a special stage of life, they have the psychological characteristics of mature and immature in the same time, all kinds of contradiction are fully reflected on them. And they are the hope of the future society, No matter how much attention fixed on them is behoove.The main social environments of junior middle school students are basically fixed in family and school. Family, teachers and friends are the main social groups which can have an impact on them, the function of their support are an understood thing. And more and more researches suggest, physical can play a positive role for the individual’s physical and mental health effectively, and exercise motivation is the reason which the individuals do the exercise. This research hope to explore how to effect students’ inner feelings by validating the relationship between social support and exercise motivation, whether the social support can explain and predict the various factors on the exercise motivation or not.This study identifies the subjects through the methods of literatures in the earlier stage, and in the formal investigation, this study uses the Youth Social Support Scale which is mainly based on Xiao Shuiyuan’s social support theory and the revised edition of MPAM-R which is based on Self-determination Theory, and uses the statistical software of SPSS11.5 and AMOS21.0 to do the data processing, model building. Through the investigation and analysis, this study gets the following conclusions:(1) The two scales-- Youth Social Support Scale and MPAM-R, their statistical indexes are very good, and the reliability and validity are both guaranteed.(2) The results of independent samples t test show, junior middle school students’ social support has no significant sex difference, that indicate people will not give different social support because of different gender and grades; but in the exercise motivation, boys have stronger motivation in physical exercise than girls in fun motivation, skill motivation, sociality motivation and appearance motivation except for health motivation. In different grades, there is a significant difference in social support and exercise motivation except for motivation of appearance. In both social support and exercise motivation, the students in grade two have better mark than the students in grade one.(3) There is a positive correlation between social support and exercise motivation among middle school students, and the social support can explain and predict the various factors on the exercise motivation in direct and indirect ways.
