That geographic literacy means the skill which is gotten through geography leaning, develops from a stable character and accomplishment, explicit for the application of geographical thinking to slove problem. This paper clears connotation and denotation, standardize the definition of geographic literacy. And geographic literacy in here is divided into the knowledge structure, geography skills, geographical and emotional ability to solve practical problems of four basic components.In this paper, basic structure system is constructed according to the geographic literacy geographic literacy evaluation system. The geographic literacy can be divided into two levels. The first level includes the geography knowledge structure, geography basic skills, geography, emotional and ability to solve practical problems of life. The second level furthers the first level to 11 indexes, makes clear each target specification. Based on this, the article designs normative questionnaire according to the evaluation index of the geographic literacy, distributes questionnaire survey to s high school juniors and all geography teachers of the Huangshi first senior high School, Youse first senior high School, Huangshi seventh senior high School, and Huangshi fourth senior high School in all four of the junior and is based on a questionnaire survey of the geography teachers. In this paper, analytic hierarchy process(AHP method) is used to determine the weight of each index in the evaluation system of geographic literacy, making the results more reliable.Through collection, sorting out and analysis of geographic literacy of students and all indexes, we found that:(1) geographic literacy of students of huangshi city high school overall is low.(2) geographic literacy of huangshi city high school has obviously intercollegiate differences, highest in Huangshi first senior high School, second in Youse first senior high School, third in Huangshi seventh senior high School, and lowest in Huangshi fourth senior high School. The main reason is that the teaching resources of uneven and divergence of the enthusiasm of the teachers.(3) Obvious differences of geographic literacy exit in classes of the high schools of Huangshi city, for the different indexes of geographic literacy, each class has different performance. The main cause of the differences from classes is learning atmosphere and culture.(4) the geographic literacy of high school students in Huangshi city exits obvious gender differences. The geographic literacy of female students is significantly higher than male students. The reason of the difference mainly comes from the gender differences of personality and psychological characteristics. To solve these problems, corresponding solutions and suggestions are proposed in this paper:(1) sharing the teaching resources, narrowing the gap between intercollegiate hardware;(2) cultivating talents, establishing high-quality teachers teams;(3) building learning organization, shaping good learning atmosphere;(4) carring out social practice, training the ability of survival;(5) paying attention to skills, giving full play to the advantages of teaching chart.
