Migrant children are one of the vulnerable groups in the city,so it is the duty of every social worker to compensate for the children’s poor reading and improve their reading abilities through taking advantage of vast resources of the city and themselves. China’s social working is experiencing the localization process and the group-form social working is still not widely used to solve problems concerning migrant children.So in order to compensate for the children’s poor reading and develop their reading habits, we need to explore a new model which can adapt to the Chinese national condition under the guidance of social working theory.Taking "Love reading ? Warm Heart" program as an example, this paper aims to explore the application of group-form social working method in the poor reading of migrant children. We gather relevant information; grasp the status quo and the reading requirement through the preliminary questionnaire survey. Taking the theories as a guidance including social learning theory, strength perspective theory and social support theory, this paper uses the group-form social working method to make the group plan and implement it. Also this paper describes and analyzes the process, conducts the three evaluation assessment of intervention effect. The group’s goal has been almost achieved: raising the children’s reading interest; cultivating the good habit of reading and making them realize how to excavate and use their potential resources. But we also encountered many difficulties in the intervention process.
