With the tide of reform and opening up, more and more farmers go outside and workin city. They would like to bring their children to study and live with them after arrival inthe city. But the location of learning and living was changed as the parents’ workinglocation. So, the children’s liquidity is strong during their growth. These children arecalled the urban migrant children. The large amount of immaturities group’s socialadaption problem has caused the government, academia, and society attention.The urban migrant children are maladaptive in living habits and cognitive psychologyfor they just stepped into the city. Its performance mainly include: school record failed tokeep pace with students in class, emotional cognition and interpersonal difficulties, etc. Inthis study, we analysis the maladaptive problem of urban migrant children from theperspective of social work, and use the professional social work method to help them,solve their practical problem and improve their adaptive capacity. This study takes theurban migrant children of one public school in south of China as the research object.According to their needs, group work method and case work method are mainly used forintervening the problem of the urban migrant children social adaptation. During the socialintervention,the author carry out five group activities and cases for improving their abilityin interpersonal communication,emotion regulation and relationship with their parents toadapt to the city life more quickly and in face of various challenges and difficultiesbrought by new environment.The social worker encouraged service object to take part in evaluation process whilesocial work intervention in the late. At the same time, in the form of interview andquestionnaire mainly survey to obtain the feedback information from the service object,and the author respond to these information. In order to improve the professional work andrich theoretical research, and strive to explore social work practice model for urbanmigrant children, promote the development of the localization of social work.
