Activity-oriented texts play an important role in the geography textbooks for senior high school students, which complement with the narrative texts each other. The Activity-oriented text is very meaningful in driving the present reform on the geography textbooks to realize the curriculum object. This paper focuses on the present situation and the problems of the secondary development of the activity-oriented texts in the geography textbooks for senior high school students. With the research methods of documentary study, interview and observation, questionnaire survey and case study, this paper tries to come up with some principles and strategies for the secondary development of the activity-oriented texts in the geography textbooks for senior high school students and give some guidance for teaching geography knowledge in senior high school.This paper includes five parts as follows: The first chapter introduces the background, the meaning, the present situation, the plan and some terms of the research.The second chapter gives some theories of the secondary development of the activity-oriented texts in the geography textbooks for senior high school students, on which the research was based, such as geography instruction theory, geography science theory, learning theory and activity-oriented teaching theory. Besides, it also gives the practice basis of the research, including the classification and the function of the activity-oriented texts of the geography textbooks.The third chapter analyzes the present situation and points out the problems of the secondary development of the activity-oriented texts in the senior high school through interviews and questionnaires, which provides the realistic basis to solve the problems in the process of the secondary development of the geography textbooks.The fourth chapter raises some principles and strategies for the secondary development of the geography textbooks. The principles include principles of scientificity, curriculum objectives, students-centered, openness, manipuility. The strategies include four aspects of improving the quality of geography teachers, integrating the teaching resources on activity designing, improving the initiative of the students, optimizing the teaching evaluation system in geography teaching. In this chapter, the author designed the activities in the secondary development of the text "problem investigation-why the temperature in the downtown is higher than that in the suburb" in the geography textbook published by People’s Education Press.The fifth chapter concludes the result of the paper, including the deficiency of the paper and possibilities of the research in the future.
