The 21st century is the era of competition for talent, talent not only understand the knowledge but also require the ability, quality, personnel training needs education. In order to meet needs with development of the social and the times in the new century beginning ,our country conduct curriculum reform, Basic Education Curriculum Reform(draft) emphasizes the students active learning, promote active participation, willing to explore and train students to analyze and problem solving skills and the ability to exchange and cooperation, Then, the new curriculum standards is promulgated The basic concept of Geography Curriculum Standard for Ordinary High School(experiment) also stresses the importance of geography to explore, promote independent learning, cooperative learning and inquiry learning, to carry out geographical practice. This requires a corresponding change in the form of teaching, activity teaching come into being, it more meet requirement of new curriculum Activity teaching can be better implemented the quality education, and promote students' all-round development but ,some teachers may be questioned. This thesis proves that it has good teaching results with the methods of activity teaching than traditional teaching and further analysis the values and implement strategies of activity teaching. I hope the thesis could provide some reference for classroom geography teachers in the implementation of quality education.There are five chapters in this thesis:Part I: Introduction. I mainly describe the background, meaning, goals and methods.Part II: Review of geography activity teaching .I mainly describe the formation and development of activities teaching ideas, and the related definition of the concept.Part III: the theoretical basis of geography activity teaching .I mainly discuss from the curriculum theory, teaching theory, learning theory.Part IV: The empirical research of geography activity teaching in senior high school proved that the activity teaching has more significant effect than the traditional teaching.Part V: the value analysis of geography activity teaching in senior high school. I mainly analysis value from the requirements of Basic Education Curriculum Reform, the basic concept of the new curriculum, the teaching of the theoretical system, implementation of quality education and student development of quality education.Part VI: the teaching strategies of geography activity teaching in senior high school. I mainly analysis the objectives of teaching geography activities, procedures and teaching process from the activities of the different types of geographic knowledge.
