Objectives: The thesis is designed to provide data andtheoretical support for the vocational education in vocational college byinvestigating career maturity, attribution and adaptability among nursingstudents in Leshan Vocational and Technical College, Sichuan NursingVocational College, Meishan Vocational and Technical College, andSichuan Health Rehabilitation Vocational College, and analyzingcorrelation between career maturity and attribution as well as adaptability.Methods:①A total of400nursing students are randomly selected in thesurvey from Leshan Vocational and Technical College, Sichuan NursingVocational College, Meishan Vocational and Technical College, andSichuan Health Rehabilitation Vocational College.②Data collection isconducted by adopting general information questionnaire (includingpersonal details, profession, family information) prepared by the researchgroup, college students’ career maturity inventory revised by Zhangzhiyong, multi-dimensional multi-attributional causality scale, collegestudent adaptability inventory compiled by Lu xiefeng.③Statisticalsoftware SPSS19.0is applied to get statistics.Results:①The total score of career maturity of380nursing students is (102.58±10.36) and the mean score of each entry is (2.96±0.34), which ison the lower level of intermediate; the mean score of each entry in eachdimension is arranged as follows from higher to lower: career autonomy,relatives dependence, occupation confidence, professional reference,career goal, professional value;②gender, grade, residence, loveexperience, student leader, etc., have an influence on career maturity(P<0.05);③professional preference, foreign nursing, job prospectcognition, social practice, vocational training, etc., have an influence oncareer maturity (P <0.05);④m other’s education level, parental occupation,household income, etc., have an influence on career maturity (P<0.05);⑤a significant negative correlation is found between the dimension ofacademic achievement and career maturity score, professional value score,occupation confidence score, career autonomy score and referencesdependence (P<0.05); a negative correlation is also found between thedimension of interpersonal relationship and career maturity score,occupation confidence score, career autonomy score and occupationalreference, etc.(P<0.05);⑥the total score of adaptability is (178.59±24.35)and the mean score of each entry is (2.76±0.39), which is on the lowerlevel of intermediate; the mean score of each entry in each dimension isarranged as follows from higher to lower: self-maintenance adaptability,role adaptability, interpersonal relationship adaptability, learningadaptability, physical and psychological condition, career preference adaptability and environment overall identity;⑦a significantly positivecorrelation is found between the total score of adaptability and the totalscore of career maturity, self-maintenance, role,interpersonal relationship,learning, physical and psychological condition, career preference, andenvironment overall identity (P<0.05).Conclusions:the career maturity of nursing students of vocationalcollege in Sichuan province is on the lower level of intermediate, and thescore of occupation confidence, professional reference, career goal andprofessional value is respectively lower than three, which indicate that thekey to increase career maturity of nursing student is to enhanceemployment confidence, promote information exchange, make careergoal clear, and understand their own occupational characteristics.②These factors, such as female, rural residence, not as student leaders, nopreference to the nursing profession, poor-educated mother, no loveexperience, non-foreign nursing, being pessimistic about the employmentprospect, no social practice experience, no vocational training experience,low family income, parents with no medical background, make thenursing students in vocational college have lower career maturity, whichindicates that the educators should pay more attention to these factors,provide targeted guidance to them, help them to recognize theemployment situation, enhance their own quality, and then increase theircareer maturity.③a significant negative correlation is found between the dimension of academic achievement and career maturity score,professional value score, occupation confidence score, career autonomyscore and references dependence (P<0.05); a negative correlation is alsofound between the dimension of interpersonal relationship and careermaturity score, occupation confidence score, career autonomy score andoccupational reference, etc.(P<0.05); the above two findings indicate thatthe key determinant of career maturity is the ability and personal effort.④The adaptability of nursing students of vocational college in Sichuanprovince is on the lower level of intermediate, the score of learning,physical and psychological condition, profession preference andenvironment overall identity is respectively lower than three, and theadaptability of them is positively correlated with their career maturity,suggesting that the educators should strengthen the adaptability ofnursing students in vocational college.
