| Chinese characters teaching is the focus of Chinese language teaching. If the learner doesn’t have a good command of Chinese characters he will probably not learn Chinese well. Meanwhile, Chinese characters teaching is also the difficulty of Chinese language teaching. This is due to that Chinese characters which made up of strokes is the morphemic recording morpheme and it’s the fundamentally different writing system from alphabetic script which widely used by most nations. It will be Chinese-learning bottleneck if the problems of Chinese characters teaching could not be well solved.Ethnic Chinese children accounts for a considerable proportion in overseas Chinese learners and they are a very special group:grow up in complicated language environment, compared to the non-Chinese learners they have a great advantage, but their overall level is far below the students at same ages in China. There exists a large gap between their Chinese listening and speaking skills and Chinese reading and writing skills. Otherwise, Chinese characters teaching is pretty important for Chinese children overseas. Owing to their speciality we could not just copy the experience of Chinese teaching for domestic primary school students or for other language speakers. It should not only be both bilingual language teaching and foreign language teaching, but also consider the psychological characteristic of children’s learning.This paper, which is based on the author’s teaching experience in Chinese Training Center in Vienna, Austria and combined with personal teaching practice and information survey, makes a discussion on the existing problems in Chinese characters teaching and propose countermeasures with early data collection and literature reading, reference on Chinese characters teaching, children’s Chinese language leaching and other related theories. What’s more, it makes a further exploration on effective leaching methods in order to provide valuable reference. Hope this study could provide valuable reference for improving Chinese characters teaching and draw attention more in-depth discussion on Chinese characters leaching for ethnic Chinese children.This paper is divided into4chapters. The first chapter briefly describes the origin, purpose, significance, research ideas and methods of this study, and sort out the relevant results of research. The second chapter summari/es the status of the perspective of Chinese Training Center of Vienna from different aspects such as:students, schools, teachers, textbooks, teaching models and methods, then it raises the problem and investigates and analyses the effect of other factors that affect Chinese characters teaching. The third chapter puts forward and proposes countermeasures and suggestions of both teaching and management problems. The fourth chapter mainly explores the Chinese characters teaching methods which aims at improving Chinese children’s interesting, included combining games and cultures and so forth. The epilogue summarizes the results of the study and reflects the inadequate of the study. |
