As one important aspect of the basic music education reform, inheriting the local musicis far from being desired and needs strengthening further in our country. As an important wayand carrier to the culturalheritage of local music, the position of local music courses in theschool education can not be ignored.There are a variety of Shandong folk songs, including Qixiafolk song, Changdaofishermen’s song, the Yellow River rammers’ work chant, Linqing ditty, Lunanfolk song,Penglai folk song and Yangko tunes of different places, which embody Shandong people’sfresh vitality and unique creativity. These folk songs contain the local people’s sincereemotion, conveytheir unique aesthetic demand and deep spiritual value and special culturalgene. Therefore, inheriting and developingShandong folk songs is our responsibility and thereis an unquestionable value and significance in doing so in school music education.Based on the methods of document analysis, field research, data pooling, interview, etc.,this thesis conducts investigation of the present situation of the music education and the localfolk songs’ inheritancein four middle schools and four primary schools of the urban area ofYantai, analyzing its inheritance’s problems and difficulties inlocal music curriculum’simplementation. In view of the development and present situation of the local music resourcesin Shandong, this thesis also carries out the exploration of and reflections onShandong folksongs’ application and inheritance in the school music education.In view of the inheritance of Shandong folk songsin the school music education, thisthesis has a discussion from the following chapters. Chapter One Characteristics andDevelopment Situation of Shandong Folk Songs;Chapter Two Investigation and Analysis ofthe Current Situation of Shandong Folk Songs in the School Music Education; Chapter ThreeSignificance and Feasibility of Shandong Folk Songs in the School Education; Chapter FourConstruction Strategies Applied in Teaching Shandong Folk Songs in the School.Through the on-the-spot investigation, interview and questionnaire analysis, theproblems of the Shandong folk songs in the school music education mainly center on:1. Thedisregard of the competent department of education;2. The lag of developmentofschool-based textbooksand the inadequacy of Shandong folk songs’ curriculum resources;3. The lack of ability and attitude of the school teachers and students;4. The mandarin’sintrusion into singing the folk song in dialect.Aimed at these problems, this thesis puts forward the following constructionstrategies:Firstly, we should understand the folk songs in our region or our province; Secondly, weshould set up the correct scientific concept of inheritance of the local music education andfundamentally realize the importance and necessity of inheriting and promoting the localmusic. Finally, we should establish the bottom-up inheritance system, write good local musictextbooks, develop school-based courses and train the music teachers with the ability ofinheritance. We should also strengthen the teaching of folk songs in the classroom andextracurricular activities and make full use of the social resources. In addition, we should tryour best to follow the original nature of music education, start from the mother tongue andbase it on the mainland, and at the same time we should learn the other nationalities’ andregions’ excellent music, go from the nation to the world.
