Study On Ways To Improve Physics Beginning Teachers’ PCK In Concept Teaching

As "the core of teachers’ professional knowledge", PCK (pedagogical content knowledge) plays an important role in the teacher’s specialization process. The point of the paper is to study the problems with physics beginning teachers in teaching and the ways to improve physics beginning teachers’ PCK.Because of the PCK hidden in the teaching practice, the paper takes "concept teaching" as the breakthrough point and the "friction" as an example. On the combination of the literature analysis of the PCK development and the characteristic of physics, it determines the components and theory framework of the PCK of a certain topic. Through the ways of case analysis, class observation and interviews, the problems of the physics beginning teachers’ PCK in concept teaching are found. By analysising the teaching way and teaching practice, some ways to improve the physics beginning teachers’ PCK are provided. Through the research above, it gathers some development strategy and proposal for the professional development of teachers.Based on the PCK framework, through the research found that the following problems lives on beginning teachers’ teaching:deficiencies of knowledge of teaching value, deficiencies of knowledge of content organization, deficiencies of knowledge of the students, deficiencies of knowledge of effects feedback, deficiencies of knowledge of instructional strategies. Each part of PCK is in the stage of accumulation and being to effectively fuse. So the ways following are provided to improve physics beginning teachers’ PCK:To determine knowledge of teaching value, to structure knowledge of content organization, to classify knowledge of the students, to aim at knowledge of effects feedback, to problem the knowledge of instructional strategies. And there is not only one way to improve PCK, we should improve PCK through teachers, school and job training.
