Under the background that the party and state attaches great importance to thepoor students and their ideological education, the particularity of poor collegestudents’ ideological education is considered in this paper, and the problems of poorcollege students’ ideological education are studied in depth. This study not onlyhelps poor students grow up and suffer from academic development, but also givesassistance to reform of the higher education system and the realization of educationfairness, together with having irreplaceable significance on harmony ofstakeholders, including poor families, institutions of higher learning, society andothers.Based on the social science knowledge, including ideological and politicaleducation, psychology and others, methods of document research, comparativestudy and dialectical materialism are used to conduct systemic research on presentsituation, causes and countermeasures of poor college students by taking WuhanInstitute of Technology for instance. From a specific view, it mainly includes thefollowing several aspects:First of all, according to the result of the questionnaire, poor college students’ideological situation is analyzed: in terms of ideological state, they are faced withheavy ideological baggage, with more severe self-abasement; in terms of cognition,their cognitions are not perfect, and more biased, together with the fact that thevalues are confused; in terms of mood and emotion, the mood is not stable, andvulnerable to external force, so as to produce the negative emotions, but there is noteffective response; in terms of environmental adaptation, their overall abilities toadapt are weak, namely they cannot effectively cope with the changes in life,learning, and interpersonal communication.Secondly, combining with the analysis of the status quo, it is pointed out thatthe ideological problems of poor college students are mainly caused by two reasons,namely the inside and outside. The external cause includes economic, social and education cause, while internal cause mainly refers to own reasons. It should beclear that external cause plays a role by internal cause in affecting poor collegestudents’ ideological situation.Finally, according to the analysis of the attribution, it is pointed out that thecomplexity of poor college students’ ideological problems determines that it isdifficult to solve this problem by relying on only one side’s force, while theenthusiasm of the interests of the parties should be aroused fully, so as to form thepositive interactive pattern that college students’ own efforts are combined with fullparticipation from government, society and schools.
