The new round of basic education reform advocates students’ autonomous, cooperativeand exploring ways of learning. Cooperative learning in groups becomes an important way ofteaching and learning in high school classroom, which puts the physical and mentaldevelopment of students in the first place with the student’s consciousness as its core.Through cooperative learning students can learn how to learn and get a lifetime benefit.Cooperative learning in groups has been generally recognized by educators in the reform.To carry out cooperative learning in high school geography teaching aims to developstudents’ awareness and ability to cooperate and motivate students’ motivation and to makegeography teaching truly people-oriented, knowledge-based shift from student centered,attend to the development of every student.The paper is divided into seven sections:Section I: Introduce the background and significance of this paper and finalize the mainobjective of this thesis and research methods by reading a lot of literature and analyzing thestatus of domestic research.Section II: This part is about the research on cooperative learning in groups and providesa theoretical basis for teaching practice.Section III: This section presents the necessity to carry out cooperative learning in highschool geography teaching.Section IV: This part presents the value of teaching geography Book I on the basis ofthe study of the contents of Book I.Section V: This part demonstrates the feasibility of cooperative learning groups inteaching geography Book I on the basis of a study on Book I.Section VI: This part presents the effective strategies of cooperative learning inteaching geography Book I in a high school.Section VII: This part demonstrates that the effective teaching of geography has somereference value and promotional value from the perspective of teaching practice, according tomy new lectures, recitations and exercises in teaching geography Book I.
