It points out in the "Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard of Art in2011" that"art is an importantpart of human culture, and it has all kinds of connections with contact inall aspects of social life. In broad cultural circumstances, students understand the richness ofhuman culture and the characteristics of art, the performance variety of art, and the art ofunique diversity contribution to the social life and gradually form a love for themotherland the outstanding cultural tradition and respect the diversity of worldculture values." It promotes gradually the fine arts curriculum resources development andutilization of curriculum reform in compulsory education stage and becomes an importantcontent of the new curriculum reform of compulsory education stage, and it becomes thehotspot study for many experts, scholars to use the excellent local art resources, create thecharacteristics of art education.After400years of development, Tangshan shadow as a Chinese folk art, the formationof a unique art style, is a wonderful work of folk art in our country. It has fine artistic carving,beautiful image and bright colour. It seems the same shadow, but has created thousands ofdifferent faces of the artistic image, it uses the Chinese traditional scattered point perspective,but has equally satisfactory results of the wonderful western modernism painting. It belongsto one of the three biggest Chinese shadow puppet arts. In2011, Chinese shadow play was putofficially by the UNESCO into the list of "Human Intangible Cultural HeritageRepresentative Work". Before the time of television and computer media, Tangshan shadowplay, with its local characteritics of gorgeous colour, beautiful modelling and free dancing andsining, is very popular in North China area.With the development of society, the material andcultural life is rich, Tangshan shadow play, as a folk art, gradually fades into the backgroundbecause of the traditional style and old singing, and it is gradually lost.In recent decades, there are many articles for the research of the Tangshan shadow play,but most of them are the analysis of its artistic characteristics or aesthetic features, and thereare almost no articles as the curriculum resources study. In this paper, however, the Tangshanshadow play will be studied as a high school art appreciation teaching potential curriculum resources, and how to be developed into a teaching content and application to classroomteaching. As an art educator, how to let the brilliant tradition of folk art lighten up, how tocarry forward the national culture in the middle school art class, and let the students to inheritthe classic national culture, is an important task of art education.
