Under the horizon of children’s literature, myth text is not fairy, allegory andsuperstition, but with the characteristics of primitivism, sanctity and metaphor, as well asmyth with literalization and response-inviting structure. It conforms with cultural matrix ofchildren’s psychological characteristics, satisfies with literature styles of children’saesthetic emotion, and develops the Chinese text of children’s language ability. Children’sreading myths experiences three stages of intuition, appreciation and comprehension. In this paper, it is one-sided and emotional to learn myth text for students whounilaterally pursue magical effect of myth content. Their learning methods and approachesare very unilateral. Teachers’ teaching myth is casual and imperfect, and they cannot helpstudents comprehend the myth deeply and thoroughly. At the same time, they don’thighlight the feature of myth in teaching and neglect myth when guiding students’extracurricular reading. Three main problems of teaching current myth text are discussedin this paper: moral humanization that makes the loss of the fun of myth, pragmatics inadvance that makes the loss of the unique charm of myth, theoretical deficiency that makesthe loss of teachers’ attainment. This paper positions three basic aims of myth text teaching in elementary school:language education and the cultivation of language sense, the cultivation of imaginationand aesthetic emotion, the recognition of human race and the cultivation of wholesomehuman nature. It points out a further emphasis on three phases of teaching and learningmyth, which include elementary, intermediate and advanced phases. In elementary phase, students are able to know about the plot of the story. In intermediate phase, students areable to understand the figures and characters. In advanced phase, students are able toanalyze linguistic expressions. On the basis of these three phases, this paper constructs the strategies that guide students comprehend the sense of beauty and intention of myth text inmultiple dimensions:(1) sail to the other shore, roaming in the miraculous imaginary world;(2) return to this shore, drenched in their own Chinese wonder land;(3) travel between theshores, opening the true essence of myth.
